Why in News?

Government launched national campaign 'Swasth Bharat Yatra' on occasion of World Food Day (observed on 16 October) .The World Food Day theme for 2018 is “OUR ACTIONS ARE OUR FUTURE. A #ZERO HUNGER WORLD BY 2030 IS POSSIBLE”.

About the campaign

*The Swasth Bharat Yatra is a cyclathon activity driven by FSSAI which cover relatively every state and UT more than 100 days to spread an intense message 'Eat Right India'.
*It will make mindfulness about the interest for safe and healthy food.
*The cyclist volunteer's escort including the 'Eat Right Mobile Unit' and 'Mobile Food Testing Unit' would venture out the nation over to build mindfulness around food safety, combating food adulteration and healthy diets.
*In this rally, about 7,500 cyclists are expected to participate in over 18,000 km travelling across six tracks through almost every state and UT over 100 days to propagate a powerful message ‘Eat Right India’.
*The 'Swasth Bharat Yatra' was launched simultaneously at Leh (in Jammu & Kashmir), Panaji (Goa), Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Puducherry, Ranchi (Jharkhand) and Agartala (Tripura).

About World Food Day

*World Food Day is celebrated every year to raise awareness on the issues of poverty and hunger, around the world on 16 October in honor of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945.
*World Food Day is a chance to show our commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030.
