  • West Bengal, Bihar and Chhattisgarh emerged the largest beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat
  • The government has spent Rs 798.34 crore on the scheme till November end.
  • West Bengal was allotted a total of Rs 193.34 crore including Rs 16.78 crore administrative expenses, while Bihar got an allocation of Rs 188.27 crore, and Chhattisgarh Rs 114.43 crore.
  • Ayushman Bharat Yojana or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) or National Health Protection Scheme or Modicare is a centrally sponsored scheme launched in 2018, under the Ayushman Bharat Mission of MoHFW for a New India -2022.
  • The scheme aims at making interventions in primary, secondary and tertiary care systems, covering both preventive and pro-motive health, to address healthcare holistically.
  • It is an umbrella of two major health initiatives namely, Heath and Wellness centres and National Health Protection Scheme(NHPS).
